row 2: 1hdc into the next 5 sts placing the 5th st into the ch 2.

row 3-4: ch1 1hdc into the next 5 st

row 5 (increase): ch1, 1hdc into the first st, 2hdc intothe next, 1hdc into next then 2hdc intothe 4th st 1hdc into last st. ( 7sts)

row 8: ch1, 1hdc into the first st, 2hdc into the next st, 1hdc into the next 3sts, 2hdc into the next, 1hdc into the last st. (9 sts)

row9-10: ch1 1hdc into the next 9 sts.

row 12: ch1, 1 hdc into the next 11 sts (place a st marker at the end of row 12. this makes it easy to know where row 12 is later.)

row 13- 16 : repeat row 12 (minus the sts marker...lol) this is about half way.

row 17-22 repeat row 12. (rows 12-22 make 11 rows for  the chin )

row 23(decrease row): ch1, 1hdc into the first st, hdc decrease into the next 2sts. 1hdc into the next 5 sts hdc into the next 2 sts, 1hdc into last sts. (9 sts)

row 24-25: 1hdc into the next 9 sts.

row 26(decrease): 1hdc into the first st, hdc decrease into the next 2 sts, 1hdc into the next 3sts, hdc decrease into the next 2 sts, 1hdc into last st. (7sts)

row 27-28: 1 hdc into the 7 sts.

row 29: ch 1, 1hdc into the first st, hdc decrease into the next 2 sts,1hdc into next, hdc decrase into
next 2sts, 1 hdc into the last st. (5 sts)

30:1hdc into 5sts

31-34: repeat row 30. ch1 and break yarn. leave a simi long tail to weave in.

remember the st marker I made you place? this is where you'll need it! fold the beard in half, and the row 12 st marker is about right where the chin starts, you need to place a 2nd st marker on  the other side of the first one. this is about where you place the  stache!! lol

take yarn that it still on your ball,  with a smaller hook (just one down from you first hook size like I used a 5.50mm so I will use a 5.00mm) put your hook in right where on of the st markers are and reattach the yarn, ch1 and make about 10 sc. this will bring the chin in a little so there isn't a gap.sl st into where the 2nd st marker is. break yarn. leaving simi long tail to weave in.

remove st markers.

mustache
ch14 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 hdc into next st, 1dc in next st, 1 tr in next st, 1hdc into the next 2sts , 1 tr in next st, 1dc in next st,  1hdc in next st 1 sc into next st,  sl st into last st.

where  you made the 10 sc sts is where the mustache goes. on the out side of each sl st is where you need to sew on the mustache. after this you need to reattach the yarn and sl st across the mustache  starting one st over from on side of the beard over to the mustache on to the other side of beard where you made the 10 sc sts. Put the hat on and place st markers where you side burns are this shows you where to attach  the beard to the hat. the 4 rows on each side (on beard) before  you started increasing is what needs to be sewn to the hat. weave in all ends.

now you have a neat beard and mustache for a hat of you choice! hope you love this as much I do!!!
