crocheted towel topper!

hey guy's, I want to share this with you all, because I know at least a few of you had these hanging around you homes growing up(some may even have them in their homes now), I know I did! now I have never made one before today. and I did some research and read a few patterns and was like oh this a really easy!! I will just whip up my own pattern for them!! lol! so here it is!

what you will need:
store bought dishes towels (get what ever your little heart wants!)
cotton yarn (get a color that is in the towel)
tapestry needle
needle and thread/sewing machine
size 5.5mm or 6.5 mm crochet hook (I am using 5.5)
and a big old button to match :D

First what you want to do is decide what you want to do with you're towel if you are cutting in half or folding it in half.  If you are cutting your towel in half you will need to fold over the hem line and put it though your sewing machine or hand sewing it is just as fine you don't have a machine.  If you are folding it in half move on to the foundation row.

abbreviations:
single crochet: sc
chain: ch
half double crochet: hdc
double crochet: dc
slip stitch: sl st
space: sp
stitch: st(s)
treble stitch: tst

To make you foundation row click here to see how I did mine!

Row 1: sc decrease into ever st. to end

Row's 2-3: ch 2, dc into every st to end.

Row 4: ch2, dc decrease into every st a crossed.

Row 5: ch2, 1dc into the next st and every st a crossed. (I have about 12sts)

Row 6: ch2 1dc decrease into the next 2sts, dc into the next 4sts. dc decrease into the next 2sts. dc into the
next 2sts. then end with a dc decrease.

Row 7: ch2, dc into the next 3sts. dc decrease into the next 2sts(4-5). dc into the next 3sts.

Row 8-18: ch2, dc into every st a crossed. (I have about 8 sts.)

Row 19: ch2, dc decrease into the next 2sts. dc into the next 3sts. dc decrease into the last 2sts.

Row 20:  ch2, dc into each st a crossed

Row 21: ch2, dc into the next2sts, 1 tst into the next 2 sts. 1dc into the last 2sts

the tst makeup the button hole.

Weave in ends and add button and your towel is ready to use! hope you like this!
